Session Notes

The thing I most remember about this production is how tortured it became.  I had already recorded a 16-track demo of this song that captured much more delicately the song’s inherent ambivalence and irony, I believe.  Early on recognized as a potential single for the album, this version wound up being overworked for reasons beyond my control and I lost a lot of affinity for the song as a result.  It was mixed by both Dan Garcia and Bill Schnee and mastered by both Doug Sax and Bob Ludwig.  We shot a video for it that wound up on VH-1 and elsewhere.  When Sony re-released There Were Signs digitally in 2013 I asked them to release the edited single version of “Go Ahead And Run,” which is the one linked to here.
